In Turkey, the majority of companies with foreign capital in 2022 opened by Russians

The number of companies with foreign capital has reached the highest figure last year, most of them were opened by Russian citizens, Anadolu news agency reported citing data from the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey.

“The number of companies with foreign capital in Turkey rose to 20,135 in 2022, the highest since 2010,” the agency reported.

Amid the downturn in the pandemic crisis, the number of newly established companies with foreign capital in Turkey rose 29.7 percent to 13,445 in 2021, and the 50 percent increase in this category of companies in 2022 was the highest in four years.

“The largest number of companies with foreign capital in Turkey in 2022 were opened with Russian citizens. Last year 1,363 companies with Russian participation were opened (140 joint stock companies and 1,223 limited liability companies),” the publication specified.

Then follow companies with the capital of Iranian citizens – 1300 (55 joint stock companies and 1245 limited liability companies). The third place is occupied by companies with the capital of citizens of Germany – 484 (111 joint stock companies and 373 limited liability companies).

Foreign citizens mostly invested capital in the wholesale trade sector. There were 3,070 companies that started to operate in this sector. Next came the real estate sector with 1,043 companies, and commercial and other services with 938 companies. 62 percent of the companies with foreign capital established in Turkey in 2022 are in Istanbul. A total of 12,462 such companies were established in this province. Antalya follows with 1,648 and Ankara with 821.
